I've gotten a lot of replies on midifying an sk-1, so I'll just forward
this to the list and hope interested parties find it before emailing me.
The web site you want to look at is http://www.maxmidi.com/diy/sk1/. You
will find full instructions on installation of the midi mod. 

Almost all the parts are found at www.jameco.com. digikey and mouser don't
carry the 80C31 any more.

I still haven't found schematics for the sk series, but I think I'll be
