Criticize my cabinet design

I'm not a big diy-er but I gotta make a wooden box type housing for an old
analog piece that is mounted only to a faceplate.
The face plate is about 10"H x 28"W so a standard rack mount won't do. I
will use rack mounts screwed to the inside of the box to hold the unit. The
box only needs to be about 5" deep so I will have the wood sides protrude
past the front of the faceplate another inch to give added protection to
all the knobs and switches. That extra depth will also make it a bit more
stable standing up. Not doing any fancy 45 degree cuts, real simple. The
back is very unimportant, will probably be masonite or thin plywood. I may
add a hinged cover later on. Just wondering if anyone has any hints or
further ideas. I'd like to get it right the first time.
Thanks
