Will probably work, but will take much longer to charge... Leave the unit on
more often every now and then (overnight) and you should be OK.

Risky... very Risky. The NiMH has a much tighter spec on recharging and
discharge, so if the circuit isn't designed for it it may go BOOM. Contact
Varta for info and try to match one up. Maybe Tadiran has a cross... If you
come off as an engineer you might even get a sample... :^) Harry
