Unfortunately, all of the 8 bit MCU's I've seen only go up to 9600 or
14.4k. Even if you found one that went above 32k, you'd need a really
oddball crystal to get the right timing, since it's divided down internally
to match one of the common, slower bit rates, none of which are
mathematically close to MIDI. This is why it's almost always done with a
software UART. Fortunately, such code is available.
