All,

on tyhe subject of small home programmable affordable uP..
I bought the Atmel AVR, quite impressive spec, the AT90s8515... runs at
8Mhz, and is one IPC, so 8Mhz is 8Mips... also, it has a built in UART (midi
anyone?) and Im afraid to say its a better spec allround than the PIC stuff,
cheaper and easier to use too.

now these chips are about 9ukp here in the uk, and the real good thing?
The development kit (whic has LEds/switches/ports/serial comms/etc) includes
an In system programming function, all the software (assmbler/debug
tools/programmer) and plugs into the parrallel port.. now you say ooo this
is gonna cost a lot.. wrong

35UKP, yes 35 quid... its the Atmel STK-200 it comes with a processor (the
affor mention 8515) and lots of neat help files. There is a fantastic
website for support too ;- www.avr-forum.com

  Atmels web site ;- www.atmel.com

It took me less than two weeks to write a Midi>CV peice of software, bear
in mind that I havent programmed in nearly 15 years, I was VERY pleased with
this little kit, and I would have NO problem in recomending it for both cost
and ease of use, let alone the spec.

Theres some stuff on my web page about it.

  TTFN
  Paul
