dip8>TO99 or can cans. . . ?

Well thanks to everyone for the input and I now can order some (rather
expensive but worth the money) to99>dip8 converters but has anyone seen the
opposite to convert to to99?
The reason I ask is I'm experimenting with replacing 8pin critters of
differenct sorts with their TO99 equivs. or military upgrades as an experiment
in thermal stability and waveform output on some older gear that may suffer
from drift.


E.G. 3080n > 3080a
     1496n > 1596G
     741n  > 741H
     
Has anyone had an experience in such sublime boredom before?  What were the
components, board and results?
