Knobs and stuff

I've used both the hacksaw and the Dremel w/cutoff wheel. Dremel is much
easier. The big thing to avoid is getting any of the Al bits into the pot
mechanism. The dremel makes finer particles and flings them further which
is not so good. Last time I wrapped the body of the pots in plastic and
taped off the end with the shaft sticking out. I had no trouble with
contamination with this method. It's easy to see why the military likes
sealed pots!
Happy hacksawing,

I use an emery wheel chucked in a moto-tool. Be sure to clamp the shaft in
a vise, not the pot--especially if you're using a hacksaw.
