analogue controllers EMS

Has anyone out there scratch built a keyboard for their EMS Synthi A,
AKS etc ?  The load on a KS sequencer keyboard/controller from always
being in use just wears them out. I know mine needs relief.

Alternately has anyone tried to buld a KS in a more conventional
container ?

I'm aware of how these things may be done. What I'm actually wondering
is ;  is it practical or does it spiral * once you are into it
