novice and the ocsilator

    I'm an electrical engineering student and I'm interested in building some voltage controlled oscillator. Now I've had a few classes in microelectronic design, op amps, filters, power supplies, and the such but never covered anything about oscillators.
    1st I'd like to understand some of the theory and maybe build some simple toys. I've seen some web sites and schematics, but its hard to derive any theory out of schematics. can any one help me out?
