I have a lousy Philips DCC 600 digital cassette recorder. Its a typical hifi
peice of crap :( But in the manual its says the I/O is AES/EBU, and it has
the normal S/PDIF connecters (on RCA's). I was a bit sceptical about buying
it initially because of this, but i thought that S/PDIF was sony philips
anyway!!
I have connected it to loads of different gear without any troubles, so I
guess
it proves that SPDIF and AES/EBU can be interchanged safely in the right
circumstances...
