I aggree, absolutely.
But, it could be that (hypothetical) cable effects are psychoacoustically
different from reflection effects and thus audible in spite of the fact
that room resonances etc have a very large contribution to the sound.
Btw. there are people who think that anechoic listening rooms are the
greatest failure ever...
