    False!
A long time ago I used to repair music equipment. I think it was a
Fender amp that I repaired, it had several minor problems, but one of the things
I noticed was that the quarter inch jacks were all oxidized pretty bad. I
replaced them with nice new shiney switchcraft connectors. Amp worked perfect,
got my $25 and gave it back to the owner. A couple of days latter, I got a call
from him. He said I ruined his amp, in no uncertain terms. I said bring it
back, he did. I checked it out, it worked perfect. In talking to him, it seems
he would plug his jack in just so and it would make it sound "real cool". The
old jacks were already in the trash. There wasn't anything I could do for him.
