Great point Bob.  One of the best cheap tools every gigging musician should
have is a simple plug in circuit analyzer.  For $5 you have a tool even the
drummer knows how to use to check outlets for correct polarity and
grounding.  I never plugged in anything without checking.  Of course, a
nice voltmeter is much better, but that excludes the drummer and singer
from helping to check... :)
