MOTM and Australian customs

Under GST, sales tax rates should reduce from 22% to 12%(or whatever they claim it to be). Not that I agree with the proposed tax system, but we can save that for another day...

Err you've got one too many zeros on that. The rule of thumb is, if it's
over $100, that's one hundred US dollars you're likely to be stung. You'll
get zapped at about 45%. It's actually 22% sales tax on top of what ever
the import duty is. Actually it's probably around $125 bux but it
fluctuates and often depends on how helpful customs are on the day. Which
varies between unhelpful and down right bastard.
There is only one way to get stuff in and I can't mention this on-list.
And with a GST, things could change yet again. I am uncertain how this will
all work under the new tax system.
