guitar volume control

ok, here is one super-lame question...can anyone tell me how to build
volume control for guitar line on best/not-tone-affecting way...actually
i am building line selector pedal with only jacks and switches, no
battery, no electronics...so i want to add volume knob on each
channel...just one knob on one line...how? where i can find schem? what
pot to use? etc...
