   Well thanks to MC and JH for their replies... I dont think Im going
   to be anything like FFT for a while... looks and sounds like
   headache, BIG TIME!  

I wouldn't call it a headhache, I'd call it enlightenment.

On hand we synth folks build waveforms, but on the other hand as
musicians our ears hear harmonic series to a great degree.  The
Fourier Transform relates those very well.

For example, the Fourier Transform provides a great explanation for
whyy morphing sounds so much more interesting than fading.
