midi delay question

Hi List,
I've been off the list for a while, but i hope you can help me my current
problem.
I've recently bought a korg er1 drummachine and i found it is delayed about 3
midi steps relative to my nord lead.
I use a mmt8 as a sequencer.
I've thought of reasons for this. It could be the midi standard has changed
since the release of the mmt8. maybe old machines have tighter timing.

my questions:
1. Does anyone know where this delay is coming from? (It seems the Roland R8,
DR660, Roland MC303 have the same delay)

2. Is there a hardware midi delay device available, or would it be easy to build
one?
