So the PC games use the same music as from the score or is it
re-recorded on
a synth for the game?

I remember reading that they made an effort to come up with lots of new
sound effects. A lot of them were from what we would now call samples. Except
it was mostly tape manipulation and mixing with echo, flange, etc. One
of the
effects used for firing a laser weapon was taken from the sound of
tapping a
screwdriver on a metallic telephone pole support cable. Some wild animal
sounds like the roar of a wildcat were mixed and adapted to create effects
like the the screaming engine sound of a passing fighter jet.
BTW the new score is spectacular and there are plenty of terrific new sounds
in Episode 1 (and some of the old ones for continuity).Check out the sounds
of the different pod racer engines, very cool.
