This was discussed quite lengthy earlier.

+100MHz bandwith and two channels is certainly no bad idea.

I have the impression that prices for new gear are falling.
So you should check carefully if used gear is a bargain or not.
XY mode is usefull. And delayed triggering also.

If you go digital:
what is the real bandwidth? 

Some people believe, that DSO cheat and that it is a good idea
to check with an analog.

This is also my experience.

A scope is something you'll buy once in your life.
Thus it needn't be el cheapo.
