Cross Mod

Dear all,

  Im interested in finding out how Croos mod is employed in synths and what 
it infact is..

  Roland synths had it, as did some moog stuff...

  so is it?

  1) Two (or more) VCO's sync'd and cross sync'd. IE VCOA is sync'd to VCOB 
and VCOB is sync'd to VCOA?
  2) Some kind of Linear(or log) frequency modulation?

  3) something else?

  I'd like to implement it in my poly and as Im at the VCO stage I wondered 
how hard it would be to add.
