I'd say vary the current. These erase heads should be high Z devices, and
you'd vary
the current tru them with a variable bypass resistor. I could simply disable
the
erase head of my RE-201 by shorting it. (Disclaimer: Do NOT do this unless
you have
checked the schemos, and find that it won't damage anything !)
