I've tried cutoff and res mods and they work just fine giving you
nice realtime control, but they affect all your patches so you
need to adjust them every time (someone once had idea to place switch
to chose between internal preset trimpots and ext pots so you can
always call back original settings, something I intend to do in mine
in future), res mod makes VCF selfoscilating (it didn't in original)
on highest settings.
VCF on mine was too "dark" (closed) so this mod gives some nice
new timbres. You can make lower vcf parameter settings in all
patches so you can control full range with pots.
There's enough room to put 4 minipots on upper left side
so I planned to make FM level from osc to VCF but I don't
have access to scope righ now so if anyone have scans
of poly 800 schematics I would be very grateful if someone
sends them
I also had idea to use CV for filter as control and
to make little EXOR ringmod (like in ms20) if there are
two separate outs for osillators
There are also trimpots for osc freq and noise level
Also I remember someone was developing better interface
for its parameter incr/decr (rotary switch?) some time
ago.What happened with that project?

I didn't notice such effect on mine. Maybe effect from osillating VCF?

Try this for wavs of factory tapes:
