All very true, but, I sometimes like a bit of crap sound, and so do the younger
musicians. The FlaySid emu for Atari Falcon sounds better than the C64 chip ever did.
Although I used (years ago) an Arp Axxe and Avatar I also used the SID and the
famous little white Casio 'keyboard'.
I still have a SK-1. Sometimes crap is great!
