Actually, some guys in sweden are making a box called the 
sidstation that has knobs, memory, etc and is controllable via 
midi. I don't remember the url, but do a search for sidstation 
on Altavista.

Now, if I would just get off my butt and get to work on making 
my midi to AY-3-8910 (aka Yamaha YM8912)....
