4051 mux problem?

I dont think you can leave the outputs of the mux 'floating', or they will 
drift away. I mean, when a particular mux output is not actually 
'connected' to anything, I would think it's output would be pretty undertimined.
Certainly, I wouldn't expect it to be zero. I'd have a large value pulldown
resistor here.

But, I'm not experienced here! So I'd like to hear from someone who is.
