PLD/PAL

Try and find a local engineering house with some friendly engineers.
Those that drink beer. (in engineering there are two types of engineers,
those that drink beer and those that don't. The one who don't are looked
upon suspiciously by those that do, possible management spies).

Where I used to work, sales people would come in and give away those
packages in order to get the chip business. Since the company probably
has ABLE or CUPL ($3000) they should have PALASM (free from salesguys)
laying around unopened.

Or call the local sales office for the chip you are interested in. Tell
them
the truth, hobbiest getting into PALS etc. It's in their best interest
to have you learn the software, since they can't sell chips without it.
I have had very good luck with the "enthusiastic amateur" approach
since amateurs may become engineers or managers at a large business.

If they tell you they are shipping it to Paul Maddox, President
Paul Maddox Productions, just say "of course". Learn the sales
peoples names, if you get one that's a wanker, call back and talk
to someone different.
