I wish people would stop ripping on Bernie.
He is not a business man but a teacher.
Last I knew, Mr. Hutchins was teaching at Cornell University.
He is surrounded by lots of people making lots of demands
on his time. He is not just some business man shilling a product.
Having dealt with people in the University system,
you will catch more flies with honey than with vinegar.
Mr. Hutchins is an extremely bright, generous and
well meaning individual. He probably has a hard time saying "no".
If he took your money and didn't ship your paper,
he probably forgot about it, and now has 100 things
ahead of it.
Gently but persistently remind him. Be nice, patient
and understanding at all times (even if its killing you).
Call him up or write him letters saying how much you admire
his work and how excited you are to receive the second
half of your shipment, which, if you recall is prepaid (hint, hint).
Every two weeks is a good interval.
Having done this dance with University professors countless
times, I can say it produces results. Yes, it is SO irritating to us
out here in the real world, but anyone going to a University
for knowledge is, in someways, a supplicant. And forget
about the money thing, money means nothing to University
types. That's just a token you send them to signify your
understanding that knowledge is priceless,
oh and to cover duplication and shipping costs.
No amount of flame wars will undo Hr. Hutchins historic
contributions to electronic music, those in the know will
just shake their heads sadly and say it's a shame Electronotes
can't afford a staff.
