The E-Mu noise submodule in my system has red noise.  This is a random, 1/f
sounding signal that's only audible when patched to control the frequency of
an oscillator or ringing filter.    It's also good for the input of an s/h.
As far as implementation my guess is that it's a lag-processed version of
white or pink noise.
