vc mixer

Just built up the 3080 vca off toms page... Now it has started me thinking, 
if I was to build a mixer around 4 of these plus a summing amp.....  What 
are peoples thoughts?? It seems to me that even though the 3080 is obsolete, 
this would be a pretty cheap way to go....
