>From what I've read, Emerson's Moog presets were using resistor substitutions 
for the parameters that he wanted to store in memory. The Taurus pedals uses 
this method and I believe the Polymoog does also. 
This method works well but the bulk of the hardware can limit the size of 
memory unless you want a huge box of resistors and switches. Plus, you can't 
alter the presets unless you change the actual resistors that make-up the 
preset.
