I made quite good experiences with the 2sc1583 (npn) as an expo convertor. 
There are other (lead mount) japanese duals such as the 2SC3381 (npn) which
claims "good pair characteristic" in the datasheet, and its complementary
type the 2SA1349. Hitachi even makes dual n-jFets and dual p-jFets if
anyone needs these.
