It's a PMI chip. To be more accurate a 'A'law companding D/A converter. The
law is implemented with an eight chord (or segment) piecewise linear
approximation for each polarity with 16 linear steps in each chord.
It claims 11 bit accuracy. $1 is a bargain.
I have a data sheet, but no scanner. If you need the pin out I'll mail it to you.
