This is not exactly new, but the VCS-3 has a variable ramp, and it's quite
different from the MS-20 LFO type: It's just a saw wave fed into a one-
transistor triangle shaper, together with a dc offset added. No smooth
transisition from positive slope saw to negative slope saw at all, but
in my book it's way more useful than the MS-20 method. *Especially*
as a modulation waveform (where you would least expect it).
There should be a schematic drawing at Graham Hinton's EMS site,
but beware a little error in the circuit (but it's obvious; a npn where
there
should be a pnp).
