crippled again: DIL package disappearing? (was: CA3046 replacement)

MC,

  Another thought, what about university/colleges/schools? Im sure the 
industry wouldnt wish to kill its creators by makeing them try and start 
with SMD straight away..

  I can see SMD getting cheaper and cheaper, and DIL/DIP going up in price, 
maybe.. but I cant see it going... they said this bout vinyl when CD's came 
out years ago... you still buy vinyl now, even the latest albums/singles are 
there, though they are less easy to find and no cheaper than a CD..
