Yes, and should you grab a bad part, it is also good fun to desolder ;->
Sorry for the ironic answer , just couldn't supress. I know that every
now and then a chip is/becomes bad. Especially when poking arround in
test circuits. And so I always use good sockets. SMD means: no sockets
(there are sockets, but they have severe problems). This is the bad
thing about SMD.
