I wish all of our costumers could handle SMDs, because electrically
DIPs etc. are not very suitable for higher frequencys because of the
long frame fingers. For the el cheapo TV sets etc. SMD components will
not be seen for years. Half of our ICs come still in DILs and DIPs,
also recent developments.  Cost is the holy grail of the entertainment
electronic industry. For the US people: did you ever look into a low line
Zenith chassis? Urrrrrbbs. But: this is all a question of prices. If
multilayer SMP PCBs and automata get cheaper I fear that DIL and DIP
will die, or be very difficult to get, like good tube sockets now. I
guess this will take another 5 years or so.


p.s.: what will happen in the australian ministry (of silly walks)
of propaganda if I add a do to DIL ? ;-> sorry, couldn't suppress this one.
