You can avoid this by using enough water based flux.. it will keep the
solder from webbing between pins..
You can use rosin core, but the stuff is hard to clean from between those
close pins..

You dont want to have to use solder wick, because some parts (microchip
pics) are notorious for getting overheated easily and just touching them
once with a solder iron is about all they can stand, even at the lowest
solder iron temps..

I have recently soldered about 200 or so smd pic chips that have got to be
the most heat sensitive pics to date..  My failure rate was about 5%, which
is terrible for me..

With chips, you can lay your finger on top of them.. If it gets too hot to
touch at anytime during the solder process, you probably ruined it.. Some
others say to never touch a solder joint with the iron for more that 3
seconds.. I say more like 1 second from experience, and no more than 3
seconds total..
