DIL package disappearing? (was: CA3046 replacement)

Sadly, handwriting is on the wall for the DIP demise...

Yes there are "thingies" such as the "Surfboards" you can get from DigiKey
;^)  But will aging DIYers be able to "relax" their muscles enough ?
