   If everyone likes this idea, I'm willing to purchase the domain for
   the portal, and build the main site. In the initial charter,
   everyone will own all of their content, and we'll make sure that
   doesn't change.  I'll also provide bandwidth for anyone on the list
   that wants to move their site to the new portal, at no cost
   whatsoever.

   So, what do you all think?

There are currently a number of independent synth-diy sites, each with
a different approach and each addressing different needs.  If one of
them has to move due to a change in internet connection, Australian
laws or whatever, so it changes, it's not big deal.

If you want to add one of your own, that's great, maybe you can come
up with an even better one.  But I'd say that the domain name is the
least important issue.
