[The Proteus]

All,

	Well, it looks like there's been nothing but positive feedback. As
a result, I'm registering the synth-diy.org & synth-diy.com domain names
this week, if no one else on the list objects to these names. :-) The site
will be active in about a month, but until then a prototype will be
available on this URL, starting Friday:

http://www.ugwarehouse.org/synth-diy/

Here's what I'll eventually provide:

	- Webspace for everyone's documents.
	- Home pages for anyone that wants one
	- Compilation of a FAQ
	- Message areas for posting
	- Most other features of a general portal site.

I got a lot of good feedback from all the members of the list, and I also
got some concerns over security, and maintenance. Everything will be
professionally developed just like a real commercial site, including the
security and maintenance issues. I'm a systems administrator and
programmer with over 7 years of experience in the UNIX and web arenas, and
when I dedicate myself to a project, I let nothing slip though the cracks.
As far as sound clips and other niceties, that will have to wait until we
move the site to synth-diy.org. Until then, keep those comments coming.
