All,

It seems that a lot of commotion has been generated on this list
due to the purchase of GeoCities by Yahoo!, and other things like the
Australian Government, et al. As a result, I've seen several messages with
interest on moving various web sites elsewhere. Here's a good question for
all of you... why not make a Synth-DIY portal? One place on the net where
all of us could place our various schematics, comments, etc. etc. on the
web, and all the newbies could have one place for a FAQ, and main resource
to help them in their most ambitious DIY dreams. :-)
If everyone likes this idea, I'm willing to purchase the domain
for the portal, and build the main site. In the initial charter, everyone
will own all of their content, and we'll make sure that doesn't change.
I'll also provide bandwidth for anyone on the list that wants to move
their site to the new portal, at no cost whatsoever.
So, what do you all think? Sorry it's so sporadic, but I'm still
forming this idea in my head as I write this letter. I've been on this
list for a while, and I appreciate all of the help that I've received by
all members on this list. I've always wanted to give something back to the
community that's helped me so much, and now it seems that this portal
would be a good way to do it. :-)
