breadboard help

hi list,
i am just getting into DIY projects and would like to set myself up with the
right breadboard(s), etc  whereby i can build audio projects from schematics
i find on the net. eventually i want to learn to design the
PCB layouts for these type of projects. i have an excellent weller soldering
iron and a scope. my trouble is that the mouser catalog has so many types of
proto-type boards and breadboards, some with on-board power connectors, etc.
that i don't know what to buy. any recommendations?
