Noooooo! Use a pencil eraser! The contacts are carbon hidden under little
rubber caps. Pull (carefully!!) the strips away from the board. There are little
rubber tips holding it in place and they could be torn off, they are in strips of
several key groups. There are (2) contact on the board and (2) in the cap for
each key, use the eraser to clean the gunk off just like you would erase writing
on a piece of paper. I like the "Pink Pearl" brand myself.
Sometimes the contacts can become hardened use a SUPER! fine piece of
sandpaper to ruff them up. <- Last Resort!
There are some pc-board trace repair pens that when completely dry leave
a conductive surface. <- Absolute Last Resort!
But NO! wet stuff at all! You will wash the carbon off!
