midi controlled analog synths

Hello Synth DIYer's,

I am running out of time for my MIDI controlled analog synth final year
engineering project.
I need to begin the construction in a couple of weeks.
I have a very limited budget (AUS$150) from which I have already put
together a
midi breakout box.
I was wondering if anybody might have the assembly manual for the fatman
synth
and if they could give me the parts list and suppliers of those parts.
I am keen to purchase the assembly manual soon but fear it may take some
delivery time
to Australia (anybody know about how long).
I am a bit worried that going off just the numbers from the schematic I
may get
parameter mismatches. (eg If i put 8031 into www.hitex.com/chipdir I
get 8031 mcu's
available from Phillips, Intel, AMD etc. which one best suits?)
If somebody could tell me how the digital portion and firmware of the
fatman
fully works it would be much appreciated.
What is the assembler that I would use to program the 8031 chip will
this vary depending
on who the mcu supplier is. I found as31.zip but am unsure how it is
used.
I understand pre-programmed PROM's are available from Paia but I am
trying to cut costs.
We have a xeltek programmer that i was hoping to be able to use.
Also what VCO's will run off the pitch cv that is produced. (is it
1V/octave being produced?)
I am interested in the tomg and asm-1 vco's but am unsure about control
voltage
compatabilities.

I have more specific questions but I will see how this initial post
goes.
Thankyou in anticipation,
Jay Kolaric
