Not sure if this is what you are looking for, but the new
softsynth demo at the Native Instruments homepage can be
used as an outstanding effects processor AS WELL as allowing
you to virtually build any kind of analog or digital synth
in existence. The program is called Generator 1.5, and can
be downloaded from their homepage:
http://www.native-instruments.com/
But be warned, once you start playing with this program you
will be hopelessly addicted. It is the greatest thing I've
ever seen for the PC.
