If this ckt really uses a CA3040 & not a misprint for a CA3140, you have
problems..
it was a wide band video amplifier with balanced differential input
AND output!
what is worse, two different biasing systems can be used with it.
It was specially designed as a video amp with constant gain over temperature.
No modern equivalent exists, AFAIK.
