Novation used to make a really nice little MIDI keyboard
that came with a wall wart and could also be battery powered.
I don't know if they still make them (check Sweetwater or one
of the other big catalog companies). I have one and it has
a really nice feel and is pretty complete when it comes to
MIDI functionality. I recall that I paid less than $100 for
it.
