Pre-distortion Diodes for Moog Ladder Filter

Hi,
Rather than trying to "clean up" the Moog ladder filter, it would be
more interesting to take a good quality, high S/N 24 dB/oct VCF and be
able to add a controlled amount of a pleasant-sounding "Moog" form of
distortion to it ( without the noise).. From other discussions on the
net, it seems that the "classic" sound of this vcf is due to 3 things a)
it is 24 dB/oct instead of 12 dB/oct b) the characteristic distortion
(including even-harmonic cancellation due to the symmetrical structure)
and c) internal filtering of the distortion products. Any thoughts on
this?
