The VCF-9A is based on a Surge "VC Filter". I'm not sure which one. I
assume it is an older design as it used a LM3900 as an exp-converter. It is
a two pole state variable design with hi-pass, low-pass and band-pass
outputs. Sounds very "Electronic" for some reason. It's not that different
form the OBX type that has a pretty common low-pass sound. Anyway I Iike
it.
My first html/graphics produced on a pc w/eztraks&word....not too bad..
seems to retain the flavor....pc mail now too....it's sad in a way...:-(
OTOH they are selling 233+A/V cyrix boards for $125 these days ...pretty
snappy pops into just about anything. Very nice upgrade board. I'm not sure
Novell runs on it thought.

BTW I was on Aminet the other night and someone ( I would look but this is
the wrong computer) wrote a prgm. That allows you to stuff the ram with
samples assigned a midi chnl/range w/pb and stereo pan. Sort of a poor-mans
sampler. Amiga samples have a very raw cool sound to them. It might be time
to pull that old A500 out of the closet. Might be time to find a used
one... they should be cheep these days but I don't recall seeing many
arround. I'll let you know if it works.
