I work in and maintain a vibration test lab.
Mostly aerospace, but sometimes more interesting
stuff like medical products or a nice big mixer.
There are a few parallels to audio gear.  The shaker is 
kind of like a speaker with an 18 inch voice coil and 20,000
pounds of push.  No cone, bummer.
The amplifier has about 1,000 water cooled transistors.
Also some EMI/EMC.
